That Amazing Blood

The Bible says, “Without the shedding of blood there is no remission” (Heb. 9: 22). It also says, “So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many” (Heb. 9:28). The Bible has a great deal to say about the blood of Christ. There are 447 mentions of “blood” in our King James Version of the Bible. Offering the blood of animals was a temporary matter, until God's Lamb, Christ the Son of God, came to be the sin bearer for all of Adam's race.

I. The Blood of Christ Satisfies

I want you think about how it satisfies God. When Jesus hung on the cross and He said the words “It is finished” (Jn. 19:30), He was not just saying He finished the work the Father had for him to do, I believe he was acknowledging that God the Father was satisfied with the sacrifice He made for the sins of man.

II. The Blood of Christ Cleanses

Rev. 1:5 says, “Unto him that loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood” (Rev. 1:5). Jesus washes us because He loves us. If He did not care for us we would never be cleansed. There isn't a person born of Adam's race for which Jesus did not shed His precious blood. All can be saved through repentance and faith in Christ as Savior (Heb. 2:9).

III. The Blood of Jesus Draws Us Nigh

Eph. 2:13 states, “Ye who were sometimes afar off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.” In our lost condition we were far away from God. But, when we heard about what Christ did for us, in the shedding of His blood, we were drawn to the point of being very near and close to Him.

IV. The Blood of Jesus Brings Peace

The Bible says, “Having made peace through the blood of His cross” (Col. 1:20). The Bible clearly says we have “peace with God” through our Lord Jesus Christ (Rom. 5:1). Peace is not necessarily freedom from troubles and trials, but it does suggest having calm and assurance in the midst of them.

V. The Blood of Jesus Brings Safety

When His blood is applied to the soul, a person does not have to worry any longer about going to hell. The most unsafe person in the world is the person who does not have a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. That can be changed (John 1:12).
