Not Surprised
There have been many times in my life I have been surprised. I have been surprised at others actions and even at my own at times. But, when it comes to the things of God, there are many things that should not surprise us.
I. I Am Not Surprised the Lord Saves Sinners
(1 Tim. 1:15). The Bible tells us that is why Jesus came into this world. “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners.” That should be good news to all that are still in their sins! Christ will save anyone regardless of his or her nationality or creed
II. I Am Not Surprised the Bible Is Completely Reliable
2 Pet. 1:21 says, “Holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.” In addition, the Bible says, “All scripture is given by inspiration of God” (2 Tim. 3:16). Without hesitation, I have banked all my present and eternity on what the Scriptures say.
III. I Am Not Surprised That Jesus Has Never Sinned
I feel that way because He is not only the Son of God, but He is also God the Son. 1 Tim. 3:16 states, “God was manifest in the flesh.” Since Jesus is God, since He is deity, it is impossible for Him to sin. He proved that when sorely tempted by the devil in the wilderness (Matt. 4).
IV. I Am Not Surprised the Tomb of Jesus Is Empty
Matt. 28:6 says, “He is not here, for He is risen.” Peter tells us why that was the case. He said in His message at Pentecost in regard to Christ and death, “It was not possible that He should be holden of it.” How could death expect to hold down the Creator and Sustainer of life?
V. I Am Not Surprised My Needs Have Always Been Met
Phil. 4:19 says, “But my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” My experience has been like David said. “I have never seen the righteous forsaken or his seed begging bread” (Psm. 37:25). The Lord cares more about me and you than we could ever imagine.
VI. I Am Not Surprised There Had To Be A Calvary
Acts 17:3 says, “Christ must needs have suffered.” The death of Jesus Christ was not an option, it was a necessity. That is how God planned to cure the sin sick sinner. The substitutionary death of Christ was God's answer to man's sin.
VII. I Am Not Surprised Jesus is Coming Again
Read Jn. 14:3. He said He would, so it is as good as done. Christ keeps His Word and He will return!
