Our Faithful God
Though we are not always faithful, God is constantly faithful to us. God does not have a fallen Adam nature as you and I have, so He is able to be what He ought to be all the time, due to the fact He is perfectly sinless and holy. Consider with me how the Lord is faithful to all of His children.
I. He is Faithful to Cleanse
Consider 1 Jn. 1:9. The Lord Jesus Christ is faithful to cleanse and forgive all of our sins. A song we sing often at church says, “My sin, oh, the bliss of this glorious thought! My sin, not in part but the whole, is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more, praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul!” When the Lord does something He does it perfectly. When Jesus died for our sins it involved past sins, present sins and future sins! To have our sins forgiven we must say the same thing about us that God says.
II. He is Faithful to Complete
Read 1 Cor. 1:8,9. Here the Bible says the Lord will “confirm you unto the end, that ye may be blameless in the day of the Lord Jesus.” The word “confirm” means to be “stable, fast or firm.” Paul said in Philippians 1:6, “Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.” God will keep His people saved by His wondrous grace.
III. He is Faithful to Control
Look at 1 Thess. 5:23,24. Verse 23 speaks of the God of Peace sanctifying us wholly. He wants to control our entire being, not just bits and pieces of the lives of His people. If God does not control us, the flesh, the world or the Devil will. Rest assured as we surrender to God, He will take charge of the details of our daily living and give us grace to honor and serve Him.
IV. He is Faithful to Protect
See 2 Thess. 3:3. God is dependable in protecting us from the Evil One, which is Satan himself. Satan cannot do anything he wants to us, because God puts limitations upon the devil as to what he is allowed to do. Just read the Book of Job and that becomes obvious. Thanks be unto God for the protection we enjoy from our Lord Jesus Christ.
V. He is Faithful to Provide
Examine 1 Cor. 10:13. God will never allow us to be tempted above that which we are able to bear. He always makes a way to escape that we may be able to bear whatever we face. There is enabling grace for every need in the life of the child of God. The “way of escape” is always provided by the Lord if we are looking for it. You may let Him down but He won't let you down!
