God's Amazing Grace
The Bible speaks of God's grace and says, “For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared unto all men” (Titus 2:11). Notice with me some truths about God's grace from this passage.
I. The Quality of Grace
“the grace of God”. There is so much to be learned from the Word of God about the grace of God. Here are three things we need to remember. It cannot be merited. Paul makes it clear in Rom. 11:6 if salvation is of works, then it is no more of grace. Remember also, it cannot be inherited. Paul clearly states that “salvation is not of yourselves” (Eph. 2:8). We do not inherit salvation through what our ancestors have done, no matter how well they have lived their lives. A third thing to remember is that it can be discredited (Gal. 2:21; James 4:6). The Bible speaks of frustrating the grace of God. To “frustrate” means “to treat as meaningless.” You see, if keeping the law could make us right with God, then there was no need for Christ to die.
II. The Glory of Grace
“that bringeth salvation”. There is nothing like God's grace. It is a justifying grace for through it we are declared righteous before God (Rom. 3:24; Titus 3:7). It is a delivering grace. It is by God's grace we are delivered from the power and penalty of sin (Acts 13:11). It is forgiving grace for our sins are dismissed and sent away by God's grace. It is enriching grace. All of our needs are supplied through His enriching grace (Phil. 4:19). All we have spiritually and materially is through the riches of His grace. Also, it is empowering grace. 2 Tim. 2:1 says, “Be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.” Thank God we can be strong through God's wonderful grace!
III. The Ministry of Grace
“hath appeared unto all men.” Who in life can know the grace of God personally? I can answer that from God's Word. It is to all who look (Isa. 45:22). The message of the Bible is to look to Christ for salvation and live! There is no where else to find grace than in Christ Jesus for grace and truth came by Jesus Christ (Jn. 1:17). It is to all who call (Rom. 10:13). We have the promise that whosoever will call shall be saved. What a blessed promise that will never fail! It is to all who come. One of the Lord's favorite words is “come” (Isa. 55:1; Matt. 22:9; Rev. 22:17). Some of the last words of the Bible are an invitation to come to the Lord
