Facing the Future with Faith

As far as our daily lives go, we do not know what tomorrow holds for us, or for our friends or loved ones. It is so necessary for us to have faith as we face the days ahead. We are in perilous times, so we cannot do without faith.

I. Faith Saves

The Bible says, “For by grace are ye saved through faith…” (Eph. 2:8). Faith is realizing that we cannot save ourselves. Knowing that fact, we turn to the grace or the unmerited favor of God for our salvation. Self or works simply cannot save us, for salvation is a work of God in response to man's faith.

II. Faith Supports

As we do the will of God, it is faith which will sustain us in the daily grind of life. Heb. 11:27 says of Moses, “Not fearing the wrath of the king, for he endured, as seeing Him who is invisible.” As Moses by faith saw the Lord, the patriarch was supported when he felt weak and insufficient. As we exert our faith in the right object, the Lord Jesus Christ Himself, we find strength in the time of pressure, problems and perplexities.

III. Faith Soothes

It is only as we put the faith we should in the Lord, that we have the peace from the Lord we need. Rom. 5:1 says, “Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God.” Faith not only brings a soothing “peace with God,” but it also produces the “peace of God,” that comes as we cooperate with God's plan for our lives. When we are in a time of unrest of soul, faith will soothe and give sweet rest.

IV. Faith Succeeds

1 Jn. 5:4 tells us, “This is the victory that overcomes the world, even our faith.” We should all want to live an overcoming life in this present world. That is not a desire which is out of reach, if you possess, and are exercising faith day by day. There is an evil world system with which we are confronted each day. Rest assured, the only way to conquer that system is to have your confidence and trust in God. No adversary is too hard for the Lord to handle!
